u3a is a UK-wide collection of 1000+ charities that provide the opportunity for those no longer in full time work to come together and learn for fun. A link to the National u3a site here (which will open in a new tab) will give you access to all that the organisation offers.
The organisation is made up of independent groups run by their members. Members are normally retired or semi-retired and wish to use some of their leisure time to share skills, to acquire new ones and to meet like-minded people. All u3as across the UK are part of a Regional group. There are twelve regions that cover different geographic areas of the UK. As Thame & District u3a we are part of the Thames Valley Network of u3as. As well as informative meetings there are regional events and activities on offer.
When you join Thame & District u3a you join a local group but you also become a member of the wider u3a family with regional and national events and activities.
At the heart of every u3a across the country are study and interest groups and at the heart of every group are people just like us. A group can be just two people sharing an interest or 100+ in a rented space. There are around 50 groups in our u3a from art, through crafts, languages and literature to wine appreciation and walking. Your membership gives you the freedom to join as many as you have time for.
These groups encompass a wide range of interests and activities. Information about the groups and their programmes can be accessed through the Groups page. Thame & District u3a also organises educational visits, outings and theatre visits; the latest of these are shown on the Events page. A calendar of all meetings and other activities is on the Calendar page.

Thame & District u3a began in 1985 with about 40 members and now has over 400 members. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month (at Christchurch and the Snooker Club respectively).
These meetings offer the opportunity to hear a wide range of speakers and to meet other members over a cup of tea or coffee. For those not able to attend in person, we offer a zoom facility to join us remotely.
